2/4/2021 0 Comments 2/4/21 Planning the articleMy article going to be written for the teenagers who enjoy music because I want it to appeal to that specific age range and population. The love and passion for music is what is important to my audience. I know that my audience will care deeply about the events and artists involved in the music industry due to their shared love for music. The relevant news currently trending is that Billie Eilish is on the rise as a musical star, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello are currently dating, and Harry Styles is set to perform at the American Music Awards in 2021. With that in mind, my interview is going to be an exclusive look at Billie Eilish’s life as an upcoming and trending music star in modern day society. I feel that my audience will find It interesting because it may inspire them to follow in Billie’s steps or find it fascinating as fans. I am going to start with a quote from Billie’s interview where she refers to herself in order to set up for the rest of the article. This quote may be along the lines of, “I have always dreamed of doing interviews and playing live shows in front of millions of fans.” I will then describe who Billie is and how she is relevant in the music industry today. I then plan on asking and answering the following questions throughout the article with a narrational tone, “How long have you been playing music for?”, “What inspired your love and passion for music?”, “When did you first realize that you were becoming more well-known?”, “What was your first performance like?”, “What would you say to the fans right now if you could say when thing?”, “What is the biggest obstacle you have faced on your career path?” I will use either of the following pictures on the left side of the page to provide the audience with an image of what the artist looks like.

After looking at a two-page article featuring an interview with Adam Lambert, I have decided that I would like to design my article in a similar way. I liked how the article was laid out with a picture of Adam on one page and the content of the interview on the other page. I plan on putting a picture of an upcoming artist on one page surrounded by some of the most interesting quotes and detailing the topics discussed in the exclusive interview on the other page. I felt that the narrational tone of the example sounded professional and was entertaining in a way that kept the reader interested. I think that this will work well for my article and feel that using quotes the way that the example did would be most effective in conveying ideas. The author of the example clearly conveys an abundance of information on the artist because they are able to write about the artist providing background information gathered from the interview and then support their statements through quoted material. I will most likely follow that same layout of providing the audience with information about the upcoming artist and then supporting it with relevant quotes from the actual interview. The example also included a picture in the middle of the text that was written in order to make it more visually appealing. I am going to do the same thing where I include a picture of the upcoming artist actually answering the questions being discussed in the magazine. Some questions that I plan on including in my article about an interview will be “How long have you been playing music for?”, “What inspired your love and passion for music?”, “When did you first realize that you were becoming more well-known?”, “What was your first performance like?”, “What would you say to the fans right now if you could say when thing?”, “What is the biggest obstacle you have faced on your career path?” and more. The example intrigues the audience with an optimistic tone and through positive word choice, which will be reflected in my own piece. The third person point of view allows for effective narration to occur, which presents information in a way that is easy to understand. Throughout the duration of this project and school year, I have learned so much about the process of producing a magazine. Through trial and error, I have developed the skills to best create a successful and visually appealing magazine. I had never acquired the skills before this project to design a cover in a way that would draw in audiences. I learned how to utilize font, color, pictures, and more to best appeal to the target audience. Also, extensive research on other people’s processes has taught me a great amount on the best ways to design and produce a magazine. I watched many instructional videos and read many articles on the production methods of media. I have developed many techniques when it comes to creating the most suitable layout for the accompanying content. I have learned and developed so much already and know that I will continue to gain knowledge through the rest of the process of production.
1/21/2021 0 Comments 1/21/21 Magazine Questions My product engages with audiences because it has a lot of unique aspects that other magazines do not have. My magazine will include exclusive interviews, exclusive posters, and codes that can be scanned to get a first look at upcoming songs. My product will also be colorful and filled with pictures that will be visually appealing to potential consumers. This will keep audiences engaged in the product because it will go beyond the content itself. Also, my product will appeal to the younger generations through the utilization of appropriate language that teenagers would enjoy reading rather than traditional, lengthy writing. Lastly, my product will engage will audiences through the use of captivating hooks that will draw the audience in about news that cannot be found elsewhere.
My product will be distributed in a way that is convenient for the consumers in order to increase sales. My magazine will be advertised throughout all social media platforms and through music streaming platforms. When potential consumers click the advertisement, it will lead them to my website where people from all around the world can purchase my product. People will be able to select the magazine that they would like to purchase from off my website and will be have the product directly shipped to their home. Consumers can pay for their magazine virtually and will receive their magazine as fast as possible on their doorstep. This will be more convenient and cost efficient when compared to selling the magazines in store. Also, it is beneficial to have the physical product shipped to consumers because my product has features that would be better to have physically. Although, if consumers do not want to pay for shipping, they can always purchase a digital copy that will directly be downloaded to their device of choice. My project challenges conventions by going beyond what the normal magazine product would include. My magazine caters to the specific age group of teenagers who enjoy listening and playing music. My project will include information on almost all aspects of music that would interest a teenager in today’s society. Most magazines only include specific information about one subject, rather a multitude. Also, most magazines are not known to be enjoyable to read by the youth, but mine will use language that appeals to the younger generations. In order to increase interest, my magazine will also challenge conventions by including free preview access to upcoming songs and exclusive interviews of popular celebrities.
My project represents social groups in the way that it represents the youth in the world who take in interest in music and popular culture. This is a great product that can be read and enjoyed with friends and families. It is designed in a way that creates a memorable experience that can be shared with others who also enjoy music. My magazine is unique in the way that it goes beyond the physical product by facilitating experiences for groups of people who share the interest of music. Media is produced globally and in various ways to create the print media, the broadcast media, and even the news media that can be found around us. All types of media are owned by a specific company or individual that reserve the rights to produce, exhibit and distribute that product. This media ownership can raise a variety of issues in the industry and funding can play a role as well.
Media ownership becomes an issue when large corporations can dominate the industry and reserve the rights to control what people hear or see. This can be especially seen with film media where several large corporations dominate Hollywood by owning smaller corporations. For example, News Corporations which owns the famous Fox filmed entertainment, which then owns 20th Century Fox, and the distributor Fox searchlight. This News Corporations also owns other subsidiary companies like the Sun and the Times. This allows them to play the part of the parent company in order to oversee and regulate the media produced by the other companies. This is a common theme throughout Hollywood, which leads to the issue of only a few companies regulating everything broadcasted to the public. This limits information and content, while also dominating the economy in the way that does not allow small corporations to succeed. Additionally, another issue that can also be seen is the funding in contemporary media practice. Big corporations, such as the big six that dominate the film industry can usually self-finance their productions as the media conglomerates can help financially support them. This is not the case for the smaller individual corporations in film that do not have any financial support when creating media. This lack of funding allows the larger corporations to dominate the industry even further. Even if the smaller corporations find funding to support their production, then they still need to return part of the profit back to the larger corporations that lend them the money they needed to produce their work. To continue, another issue that is present due to media ownership is the limiting of ideas and the controlling of what the audience sees. Influences based on politics and biases of the owners of multiple corporations may also be integrated into the end product of media to satisfy investors in certain scenarios. For example, Rupert Murdoch who is the owner of News Corporations has integrated continuous, conspicuous bias towards a number of political nominees by granting them more screen time on Fox News and other news channels that he owns. Overall, the ownership of media and the issues associated with funding in contemporary media practice have become more prevalent as media has globalized around the world. As society has evolved, these issues have negatively affected the economy, the producers of the media, and the audience of the media. As these issues become more widespread and damaging, media evolves and adapts. 11/11/2020 0 Comments November 11th, 2020This first layout of what my table of contents may look like is engaging to all audiences and is organized in a way that is different from the average magazine. It is a unique layout that contains all the information necessary to navigate the magazine itself and gather an understanding of each article. The color scheme complements and matches my cover page really well. Also, the pictures included represent the articles fairly well by drawing in the reader to want to learn more.
10/28/2020 0 Comments Table of contents 10/28/20I chose the first table of contents layout because it incorporates all the elements that I would like to include in my own table of contents. I like that each article in the magazine gets its own description and I like that the featured articles are separated from the rest at the top to draw in the readers. The table of contents does not exactly match my cover page due to the fact that the color scheme of pink used in the table of contents layout does not match my color scheme, which can easily be modified. Contrarily, the word choice and graphics do match my cover page. I liked the second table of contents layout pictured above because it is organized and separates the articles into different categories based of their content. I also liked the layout of the pictures on the top because it adds to the overall design. This layout does not match my cover page in the way that the pictures do not reflect music and the sections that the articles are separated into do not match my topic
If I were to use this table of contents, I would replace the pictures with others that relate to music and I would make the section titles relate to interviews, performances, and news. Lastly, the third table of contents is appealing because it is simple and organized, while also revealing a lot of information about the contents of the magazine like the description, page numbers, and title of each article. This layout does match my. cover page in the way that it is organized to fit with my topic, but the background picture and information itself would need to be modified to. better fit my magazine cover. For example, I would change the background picture to someone performing on stage. Some possible article topics that I could include in my table of contents would be secrets to songwriting revealed by Taylor Swift, upcoming award shows, Music's greatest hits of all time, performances of the year, highest anticipated albums to come, and the newest artists on the billboard charts. |
